Lending your stocks to IBKR
IBKR offers the “Stock Yield Enhancement Program”, which allows you to lend your stocks in exchange for a portion of the profits generated.
Requirements
- Be an eligible client, approved for a margin account or have a cash account with equity greater than $50,000 USD (or equivalent).
Example
If you own 5,000 shares of XYZ, valued at $375,000 USD, and the market rate is 9%, IBKR will pay you interest on the collateral (U.S. Treasury securities or cash), for example:
$375,000 USD × 4.5% = $16,875 annually
